The POCSO Bill also aims at making offences against children \u2018gender neutral\u2019. The Bill has been approved by Parliament \u2014 the Rajya Sabha on July 29, 2019 and the Lok Sabha passed it on August 1, 2019.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Penetrative sexual assault:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Under the Act, a person commits \u201cpenetrative sexual assault\u201d if he:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Penetrates his penis into the vagina, mouth, urethra or anus of a child, or<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">makes a child do the same, or<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inserts any other object into the child\u2019s body, or<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applies his mouth to a child\u2019s body parts.\u00a0 The punishment for such offence is imprisonment between seven years to life, and a fine.\u00a0 The Bill increases the minimum punishment from seven years to ten years. \u00a0It further adds that\u00a0if a person commits penetrative sexual assault on a child below the age of 16 years, he will be punishable with imprisonment between 20 years to life, along with a fine.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Aggravated penetrative sexual assault:\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Act defines certain actions as \u201caggravated penetrative sexual assault\u201d.\u00a0 These include cases when a police officer, a member of the armed forces, or a public servant commits penetrative sexual assault on a child.\u00a0 It also covers cases where the offender is a relative of the child, or if the assault injures the sexual organs of the child or the child becomes pregnant, among others. \u00a0The Bill adds two more grounds to the definition of aggravated penetrative sexual assault.\u00a0 These include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assault resulting in the death of child, and<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assault committed during a natural calamity.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The Bill\u00a0increases the minimum punishment from ten years to 20 years, and the maximum punishment to death offences to the definition of aggravated sexual assault.\u00a0 These include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assault committed during a natural calamity, and<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Administrating any hormone or any chemical substance, to a child for the purpose of attaining early sexual maturity.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Pornographic purposes:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the Act, a person is guilty of using a child for pornographic purposes if he uses a child in any form of media for the purpose of sexual gratification.\u00a0The Act also penalises persons who use children for pornographic purposes resulting in sexual assault.\u00a0 The Bill enhances the punishments for certain offences.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Storage of pornographic material:\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Act penalizes storage of pornographic material for commercial purposes with a punishment of up to three years, or a fine, or both.\u00a0 The Bill amends this to provide that the punishment can be imprisonment between three to five years, or a fine, or both.\u00a0 In addition, the Bill adds two other offences for storage of pornographic material involving children.\u00a0 These include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li
